THE SUN AND THE SEA

One day the Sun bent slowly down, "I'm jealous of you, Sea."
The Sea said, "How can this be true, that you do envy me?
For you have touched the meadows green and showered them in light.
Be envious of me, oh Sun, it just does not seem right!

Dear Sun, I'm much too limited, I've never seen your lands."
"I know that, Sea, but I, in turn, have never felt your sands."
"I've never seen a tree grow tall, I find that rather drab."
"How can you feel like that, my friend, I've never housed a crab."
"But you, oh Sun, are worshipped for the warmth you give to life."
"And you are walked beside, oh Sea, in times of inner strife."
"You bring the people out-of-doors to bask in you each day."
"Yet they are drawn to you, old Sea, when 'ere they want to play."

"We both have things we cannot see and things we cannot do,
But, if you'll tell me of your day, I'll tell of mine to you.
Perhaps if we collaborate, we'll better understand
I'll tell you of my water-life, you tell me of your land."
