AUTUMN
I am just a ghost of my former self
A wisp of the woman I used to be
Autumn has arrived, stripping me down
Making me aware of Winter yet to come
In Spring I was young, alive and green
I viewed the world as so many youngsters do
There was nothing to stop me, no obstacles I couldn't overcome
Just as saplings dance with the wind
So did I play tag with the Muses
Hot winds - Summer winds - winds of desire
Subtly eeking young strength
Bright days, enchanting evenings
Enticing me to use every ounce of energy at my disposal
I used Summer fully
Now Autumn - grey and lazy - has arrived
She dares me to compete with Spring and Summer nymphs
S l o w e r, smoother, Autumn
Shows me a pace I'm not yet accustomed to - Autumn
Preparing me - oh so gently
For Winter
